The Marian Beane Crossing Borders Writing Competition is an internationally themed annual writing contest for UNC Charlotte students. The Writing Competition is sponsored by the Office of International Programs and the English Language Training Institute (ELTI).
Theme: Different culture. Different me. How has your international experience affected your perspective of the world?
Guidelines: Submissions must be original essays, short stories or reports based on the student's experience, and may be no more than 1000 words, typed, and double-spaced. Include your full name and UNC Charlotte email address on your submission.
Eligibility Criteria: The contest is open to current UNC Charlotte undergraduates, graduates and upper level students (4, 5, & 6) of the English Language Training Institute (ELTI).
Awards and Recognition:
- One $400 cash award in each category (Undergraduate, Graduate, and ELTI)
- Two $175 honorary mention cash awards in each category
- Recognition at the International Education Reception. Please plan to attend.The International Education Reception will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2020 from 3:30pm - 5:00 pm in the SAC Salons A-C.
How to Enter: Eligible students must submit their Writing Competition entries online using the Marian Beane Crossing Borders Writing Contest Entry Form. The Deadline is Monday, March 16, 2020.
